Over 10 years ago…
The year was 2015. Shaina was fresh out of her first year of college and Keenan had just graduated. She was from New Jersey, and he was from not far away in Pennsylvania.
So it was only natural that they met across the world in Seoul, Korea.
They ended up at the same study abroad program at Ewha University, and despite the brief time shared, they became fast friends! Over the next several years, they and their study abroad friends would meet up about once a year (whenever Keenan would travel to New York) for KBBQ and karaoke.
It was all so very platonic.
Then it all changed
Keenan decided to celebrate his 30th birthday as any normal person does - by inviting a bunch of his friends to go party at EDC until 6AM for three days straight! Shaina, as any normal person does, accepted his invitation despite not knowing anyone else going and despite not having gone to an EDM festival before.
The fireworks and lasers weren’t the only sparks that ignited that weekend, and they bonded over deep talks on the shuttle ride and a shared optimism and joy for life.
One year later they were back under the lights of EDC again, but this time as boyfriend and girlfriend!

The Proposal
Keenan took Shaina on a series of dates , each randomly selected from two options so it would be a surprise as to where they were going next. They started with brunch, rode the Seattle ferris wheel, and went for a wine tasting at Chateau St. Michelle winery.
But the winery was not a random choice…
